Immigration Document Translation for Every USCIS Filing

USCIS requires certified translations of all foreign-language documents submitted with immigration applications.

USCIS-Compliant Certified Translation

One Agency for All Your Immigration Translation Needs

An immigration case can require translations of dozens of documents across multiple categories: vital records, court and police records, academic credentials, financial statements, military service records, and country condition evidence. Each document type carries its own formatting conventions and official terminology, and every translation must meet USCIS requirements: a complete English rendering accompanied by a signed Certificate of Accuracy from a competent translator. Using a single agency for all your case documents ensures consistency in terminology, faster processing, and a single point of contact for any follow-up requests from your attorney or USCIS officer.

BeTranslated handles the full range of immigration document types for green card applications, naturalization petitions, asylum claims, spousal and family visa filings, DACA renewals, TPS applications, and immigrant investor petitions. We work with immigration attorneys, BIA-accredited representatives, and applicants filing pro se. Every translation includes a Certificate of Accuracy and is reviewed before delivery. Expedited turnaround is available for applications with imminent deadlines.

Who Needs This

Individuals filing I-589 asylum applications who need evidence translated, including police reports, court records, arrest warrants, hospital records, news articles, and country condition documents.

How Immigration Document Translation Works

01

Submit Your Full Document Package

Upload all foreign-language documents for your immigration case in one batch. We accept scans, PDFs, and photographs. If you have a filing deadline, include it so we can prioritize accordingly.

02

Case Review and Specialist Assignment

Your project manager reviews the document types and assigns each one to a translator with the appropriate subject-matter background: vital records, legal documents, academic credentials, or country-specific evidence.

03

Complete Translation and Accuracy Review

Every document is translated in full. A second linguist reviews each translation for accuracy and completeness before it is certified. Terminology is kept consistent across the entire case package.

04

Certified Delivery with Attorney-Ready Format

You receive all translations as a single PDF package, each with its own Certificate of Accuracy. The format is attorney-ready and accepted by USCIS, immigration courts, and US embassies.

Country-Specific Requirements

Each Destination Has Its Own Certification Standard

An immigration translation accepted by USCIS is not necessarily accepted by the UK Home Office or Spanish authorities. The right format depends on where you are filing. We confirm acceptance with the receiving authority before quoting.

United States

USCIS

Complete English translation accompanied by a signed Certificate of Accuracy. The translator attests to competence in both languages and to the completeness of the translation. Notarization is not required by USCIS itself but may be required by some state agencies or consulates.

United Kingdom

Home Office and UKVI

Certified translation with a professional declaration. CIOL (Chartered Institute of Linguists) or ITI (Institute of Translation and Interpreting) membership is widely accepted. The certificate must include the translator's contact details and the date of translation.

Spain

MAEC Traductor Jurado

Sworn translation by a translator authorized by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAEC). The translation carries the translator's official seal and registration number. Required for Spanish residency, citizenship, and most government-facing immigration filings.

Belgium

Beëdigd Vertaler / Traducteur Juré

Court-appointed sworn translator registered in the Belgian National Register. Regional language matters: Dutch-speaking Flanders and French-speaking Wallonia each maintain separate sworn-translator pools. We match the translator to the language and region of your filing.

Canada

IRCC

IRCC accepts translations from a certified translator (member of OTTIAQ in Quebec, ATIO in Ontario, STIBC in BC, or other CTTIC member associations) or, if no certified translator is available, an affidavit from the translator sworn before a notary or commissioner of oaths.

Australia

NAATI

Translations submitted to Australian visa and immigration authorities must come from a NAATI-accredited (now NAATI-certified) translator. The NAATI stamp and certification number are mandatory. We work with NAATI-certified translators for Australian immigration filings.

Common Questions

Immigration Document Translation: Frequently Asked Questions

USCIS requires that every foreign-language document submitted with an immigration application be accompanied by a complete English translation and a Certificate of Accuracy. The certificate must be signed by a competent translator who attests that they are fluent in both the source and target languages and that the translation is accurate and complete to the best of their knowledge. The applicant and their immediate family members cannot certify their own translations. All BeTranslated translations include this certificate as standard.

USCIS does not require notarization of immigration translations. A Certificate of Accuracy from a professional translation agency is sufficient. Notarization is a separate authentication step that some state courts and foreign authorities require, but it is not part of the USCIS certification requirement. If your attorney or a specific form instruction specifies notarization, we can arrange it as an add-on service.

Turnaround depends on the number and complexity of documents in your case. A single vital record such as a birth or marriage certificate is typically delivered quickly. A full case package containing 10 to 20 documents is usually completed within 3 to 5 business days. Expedited processing is available for urgent filings. Contact us with your document list and filing deadline and we will confirm a timeline.
