Multilingual Print Design and DTP Services

Professional layout and DTP for print materials in any language. RTL layouts for Arabic and Hebrew, CJK typography for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, and pre-press delivery for every market.

Overview

Print Materials That Work in Every Language and Market

Translated text alone does not produce a multilingual brochure. Arabic text expands and must flow right to left. Japanese text can run vertically or horizontally, with specific typographic rules for punctuation and line endings. German text is routinely 20 to 30 percent longer than English, which collapses layouts designed for English copy lengths. Multilingual print design requires a DTP specialist who understands each language's typographic conventions, not just its alphabet.

What We Deliver

What Sets Our Multilingual Print Design Service Apart

Professional DTP in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop

Layout work performed in industry-standard tools with source files delivered. No locked PDFs. Files structured for future updates without re-setting the entire document.

RTL Layout Support for Arabic and Hebrew

Full right-to-left layout in InDesign's World-Ready Composer. Arabic typesetting using calligraphically appropriate fonts. Hebrew layout with correct punctuation and hyphenation rules.

CJK Typography Rules Applied

Chinese, Japanese, and Korean documents set to the correct kinsoku shori (line-breaking rules), mojikumi (character spacing), and tate-chu-yoko (horizontal text in vertical lines) conventions for each language.

Pre-Press Ready Files Per Market

Delivery in the format and color profile required by the target market: CMYK for offset print, RGB or PDF/X for digital, with correct bleed, slug, and trim marks for each market's production standards.

Common Questions

Multilingual Print Design: Frequently Asked Questions

Working from InDesign source files is strongly preferred as it produces the highest quality output and the most accurate text reflow. Where only PDFs are available, we can retype and reset the document, though this adds to project cost and timeline. If you have access to any source files, even older versions, please provide them.

We address text expansion at the DTP stage by adjusting font size, tracking, and leading within brand tolerances, reflowing copy across additional pages where layout permits, and flagging to the client any instances where copy must be edited for length rather than simply resized. We provide a brief before finalizing layouts so the copy team can see exactly where reduction is needed.

We can coordinate print production through our network of country-specific print suppliers as an optional add-on service. This covers obtaining quotes, managing proof approvals, and overseeing delivery. For clients who prefer to manage print locally, we deliver pre-press ready files in the format specified by their local supplier.
